Just behind the finalisation of the BMD remasters and the NM116 I bring to you the M113!

This variant A1 was used by many of the Armies I intend to cover and is an excellent building block for many variants including the NM-135/142, which I add are near finish!

As usual Top of the class for SirFjodin! Another great master!

Ill soon release the 'release plan' as to when and how these beauties will be available. It will either be a kickstarter or  a kickstart inspired 'ArmiesArmy Funding' which will take advantage of the 60 Day PayPal returns policy. Ill basically have an amount that makes the project viable. If I don't reach it (clearly not viable) Ill return all funds and try another force.

Ill be working on this during my week away on Business.

Quick Update

I promised to be here more...so here is a quick update

The NM116 has been finished

The HMG added and a few more details! Im very pleased with this SirFjodin has done some splendid work and here has followed this up with updating/refreshing the BMD-1 he did some time back.
It actually looks a new model with more detail!

Here is a picture of the two of them! Again very fine!

We are working on other variations, however focussing on the Norwegians for the time being. I hope I can share some pictures of the infantry sculpts within a couple of weeks!

Full Peak.....The NM 116

The NM 116 !

What a superb job SirFjodin has done on this model! I am very pleased with it indeed! Especially the fine detail!

 In 1972, the Norwegian Army decided to retain 54 of their 123 M24 light tanks as reconnaissance vehicles after they were substantially rebuilt under the designation NM-116. It was calculated that the NM-116 rebuilding program cost only about a third as much as contemporary light tanks.

This program was managed by the firm Thune-Eureka. The American firm NAPCO developed an improved power-pack based around the 6V53T diesel engine used in the M113 armoured personnel carrier mated to an Allison MT-653 transmission. The original 75 mm Gun M6 L/39 was replaced with a French D-925 90 mm low pressure gun, with a co-axial 0.50-inch (12.7 mm) M2 heavy machine gun. The bow gunner position was eliminated in favor of ammunition stowage. A new fire-control system was installed, complete with a Simrad LV3 laser rangefinder. Norwegian firms also converted eight M24 light tanks into light armoured recovery vehicles to support the NM-116. The NM-116 were retired from service in 1993.  (wiki qoutes :))

This is one of the models for my Cold War Norwegian range, which will also include the NM 135 APC, NM142 AT and the Leopard 1A5N0. I am still working on the funding of this, with a high possibility it will be a Kickstarter for each nation. They will be kept small with vehicles and infantry. Hopefully any success will fund the next one and it also gives me the flexibility of doing what Nation/vehicles people want.  More importantly it will help fund it. To be fair, I have 'ZERO' idea on how well this period is wanted :)

I can just see this taking on the Soviet forces in the winter hills!

Work has got under way on my series of Cold War models and  I'm really pleased with the work so far. Nick is on to a brilliant start on the vehicles and I have to start on the Infantry!

New Years Resolutions....

Get some cold war stuff out!

so that is exactly what Im going to do! Sorry about a complete lack of activity, however last year time was limited by work, home, kids etc (specifically work) and the time I had was mostly focussed on Sci Fi. This year...it will be different (laughs I hear) Yep, depending on home, work etc....I'm going to be fully focussing on the Modern s part of my business!

Ill be picking specific periods and theatres of the cold war that I'm interested in playing in. The first which has always been at the back of my mind is the  Northern Flank of Europe. The Scandinavians response to a Soviet Invasion. The whole theatre looks interesting due to the climate and terrain. We have Norway, Finland, Sweden taking on the Soviets. We have Canada, Uk , USA and Denmark providing quick response reinforcements and we have snow! So cold and summer gear options!
We have a vast array of unusual winter vehicles and some localised variations of some of the classics, like the M113 and M24 for example.

The Soviet doctrine suggested we would see VDV in numbers and Soviet Naval Marines. The Finish adopting older soviet kit would be a fierce force to aid/slow the Soviets down and the Norwegians/Swedes would be holding on for NATO reinforcements in the terms of USA and UK marines, Danish regular forces. A proper fight would be had !
, and also Too fat Lardies are bringing out a IABSM cold war supplement and to round it all off rather nicely.....
